Kia sold a total of 19,968 units in the month of April 2024; The Sonet stood at the top spot followed by the Seltos
Kia has been quite proactive in introducing new models in the Indian market. The company updated the Sonet compact SUV with a mid-life facelift this year and even the Seltos was facelifted last year. The Korean carmaker is gearing up to launch two new cars in the domestic market this year i.e. EV9 flagship electric SUV and new-gen Carnival premium MPV.
In the month of April 2024, Kia sold a total of 19,968 units, thereby acquiring the fifth spot in the overall domestic sales tally. Comparing the previous year’s figures, Kia sold 23,216 cars in April 2023, registering a YOY de-growth of 14%.
The MOM analysis reveals a 7% decline as the company sold 21,400 units in March 2024. Talking about the model-wise sales, the Sonet became the Korean carmaker’s top performer with 7,901 units in the bag, registering a substantial 19% YOY de-growth (9,744 units in April 2023). Taking the second spot is the Seltos with the sales bar standing at 6,734 units, a 7% decline from the previous year. On the MOM front, the Seltos mid-size SUV lost by 15% as it sold 7,912 units in March 2024.

Trailing behind these major-volume pullers for Kia in India is the Carens with 5,328 units. The MPV experienced a decline of 13% in its YOY sales. The sales count for the Carens in the month of April 2023 stood at 6,107 units. Talking about the MOM results for the Carens, the sales went by a good 12% in April 2024.
The only electric car in the brand’s line-up, the EV6 posted sales of only 5 units, registering a massive 97% de-growth in the YOY sales. On the other hand, the MOM growth stood at 400% as the brand’s flagship EV managed to sell only 1 unit in March 2024.
To conclude, all the cars in the Korean brand’s line-up lost a significant chunk of sales in the YOY analysis. Talking about the MOM sales analysis, Carens and EV6 saw good growth while the Sonet and Seltos sales went down by 10 per cent and 15 per cent respectively.
