Mini India recently commenced bookings for its new-gen Cooper S hatchback in the Indian market. Expected to launch in the coming months, the three-door Cooper S can be booked at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh via the official website. Ahead of its India launch, here is everything you need to know about the upcoming hatchback.
New-gen Mini Cooper S: Exterior
In terms of design, the new Mini Cooper S looks a bit angular as compared to its predecessor. The 3-door Cooper comes equipped with circular headlamps with a new LED pattern and a curvy Octagon-shaped front grille. Moving on to the sides, it receives a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear profile is flanked by newly designed tail lamps with LED inserts that are connected via a black trim.
New-gen Mini Cooper S: Interior
On the interior front, the new Mini Cooper S three-door hatchback follows a minimalistic design with a range of features, such as a 9.45-inch circular touchscreen infotainment system and a steering wheel with a new Mini badging. Furthermore, the gear selector has been moved from the centre console to a panel beneath the screen, next to the handbrake button, driving mode selector, turn-key starter, and audio control dial. It also gets wireless charging, a heads-up display, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats, auto AC, connected car technology and massage function in the driver’s seat.
New-gen Mini Cooper S: Powertrain
Talking about the powertrain, the new Mini Cooper S will come equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine churning out 204 hp max power and 300 Nm torque (26 hp and 20 Nm more than its predecessor). The front wheels draw power from a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The company claims the 2024 Mini Cooper S accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 6.6 seconds.
New-gen Mini Cooper S: Price and rivals
The current-gen Cooper S is available at a starting price of Rs 42.7 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. We expect the 2024 Mini Cooper S three-door hatchback to be slightly more expensive than its predecessor. Mini India will first introduce the hatchback with a petrol powertrain only. While the upcoming Mini Cooper S won’t have direct competitors, it’s poised to rival the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW 2 Series, and Mercedes-Benz GLA in the Indian market.
