The Tata Harrier EV will be launched before the end of this financial year in India and it will boast a claimed range of over 500 km
Tata Motors confirmed during a recent investor’s day that the Curvv EV and Harrier EV will launch this financial year in India. The former will arrive in the coming months while the latter is slated to enter the market before the end of this FY. Both models were showcased in their near-production form at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 earlier this year.
While the Curvv has often been spotted testing, the same cannot be said for the Harrier EV. The latest set of spy images gives away some interesting details about the upcoming electric SUV. It is no secret that the Harrier EV will be offered with a dual electric motor configuration, at least in the top-end variants and the same has been confirmed here.
The pictures show an electric motor mounted at the rear. One e-motor will drive the front axle while the other will drive the rear forming an electric all-wheel drive system. The Tata Harrier EV is expected to feature a 60 kWh battery pack, capable of a claimed driving range of more than 500 km on a single charge and it will closely resemble the design of the concept.
The spy images indicate the presence of a new set of alloy wheels and a front fascia boasting a shut-off grille section, brand new bumper, etc. The rear will be equipped with a new bumper and new LED lighting signatures. The five-seater will come with bidirectional charging capabilities and it will become the third model to sit on the Acti.ev platform.
The architecture debuted in the Punch EV earlier this year and it will also be used in the electric version of the Curvv. Upon arrival, the Tata Harrier EV will become the flagship offering from the homegrown auto major and its prices could start at above Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the Mahindra XUV.e8 which is bound for late 2024.
The CY2025 is shaping up to be a year of EVs as almost every major car producer is vying for the spotlight by introducing new zero-emission vehicles.
