The Honda ADV160 will rival the likes of the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160 in the Indian market
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is the top player in the ICE scooter segment in the domestic market. With the Activa ruling the sales chart for years, it has become synonymous with the scooter term in India. While commuter motorcycles and scooters continue to remain the Japanese brand’s bread and butter, the company is planning to introduce a variety of premium offers in the country in the coming years.
One of the prominent models which has come to light is the ADV 160 adventure-style maxi scooter. Internally codenamed K4LA, the ADV160 will be positioned in the maxi-scooter segment which currently has only two models – the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the newly launched Hero Xoom 160. As per the reports, the Honda’s maxi scooter will be based on the international-spec ADV160 and it is expected to debut in India by 2026.
Talking about its powertrain, the Honda ADV160 draws power from a 157cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine putting out 16 bhp and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. The liquid-cooled motor and specifications are on par with the Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155. Based on the underbone frame, there’s no space on the floorboard, much like every other maxi scooter, however, you do get 27 litres of under-seat storage.

In terms of hardware, the Honda ADV160 is suspended by a set of 31mm Showa telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The braking duties are handled by a 240mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum unit. Single-channel ABS is offered as standard, something along the lines of the Hero and Yamaha models. The maxi-scooter is grounded by a set of 14/13-inch front/rear wheel setup.
The seat height stands at 780mm and with 165mm ground clearance, it can tackle the Indian roads conditions with ease. The ADV160 weighs 133kg, making it 9 kg lighter than the Xoom 160 while being 7kg more than the Yamaha Aerox 155. The fuel tank capacity of the maxi scooter is rated at 8.1 litres.

The Honda ADV160 also sports a long list of features in the international markets like a digital instrument cluster, keyless ignition, start/stop system, USB charger and all-LED lighting amongst others.
