The next two to three years promise significant evolution in the seven-seater SUV and MPV domains, with the advent of several new models. Here, we delve into the details of the forthcoming releases anticipated to unfold within the current year.
1. New Skoda Kodiaq:
To likely hit Indian roads this year, the new Skoda Kodiaq, unveiled globally in October 2023, sits on the MQB Evo platform, marking a significant overhaul both inside and out. With larger dimensions, it offers increased spaciousness alongside a more upscale interior. For India, the new-gen Kodiaq is likely to continue with its 2.0L turbo petrol engine, producing 190 PS and 320 Nm. The launch could happen later this year.
2. Toyota Fortuner Mild Hybrid:
Following its debut in the Hilux in global markets, Toyota could introduce the 2.8L mild hybrid diesel engine in the Fortuner. This move aims to enhance fuel efficiency, elevate overall performance, and lower emission standards. Additionally, improvements to the smoothness of the diesel engine are also expected. While no official confirmation has been made, it could arrive in H2 2024.

Kia is gearing up to launch the fourth generation Carnival in India in the upcoming months, while the EV9 electric SUV is expected to hit showrooms in late 2024. The premium MPV will be available in seven- and nine-seater layouts, featuring notable exterior and interior changes. Meanwhile, the EV9 will boast a claimed range of 541 km in the WLTP cycle.
The latest Carnival has been available in the international scene for a long time but Kia elected to sell the third gen here until last year. Thus, the upcoming model will be a radical departure compared to its predecessor and it received a facelift a few months ago as well.
