4 New Electric Cars Tata Plans To Launch In India

Tata is planning to introduce as many as four new electric cars in India over the next few years and here we have explained about them

Tata is currently the leader in the EV market with as many as 5 products. However, it does not plan to settle soon, which is why it has a host of EVs scheduled to be launched in the near future.

1. Tata Harrier EV

Tata Motors is on a roll right now with the latest launch, the Curvv EV, getting a lot of attention. That said, Tata is still on path to launch more EVs and the next product might be the Harrier EV. It has been spotted testing several times which means that the launch date is arriving sooner than later.

The exterior on the most recent test mule was similar to the recently facelifted Harrier except for the new alloy wheel design which debuted on the Harrier EV concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. No technical details have been confirmed but based on the recent launches, a range of at least 550+ kms is expected. There are rumours about Tata introducing an AWD model with 2 motors on each axle as well.

2. Tata Safari EV

Tata Motors will definitely launch the Safari EV right after the Harrier EV, or there are chances that both might be launched at the same time, just like the launch of the facelifted models of the Harrier and Safari late last year. We expect the Safari EV to get a bigger battery as it will be a 6/7-seater when compared to Harrier’s 5-seater configuration.

The technical details of the Safari EV will remain largely similar to the Harrier EV including the power output figures, except for maybe a larger battery for the bigger Safari. As we said previously, there is no official confirmation from Tata and it’s the same case with the rumour that the Safari EV too might get an AWD variant.

3. Tata Sierra EV

The Sierra EV was first shown in concept form at Auto Expo 2020, and a second concept was then shown at Auto Expo 2023, which looked closer to being production-ready and featured a proper 5-door body instead of the unique four-door arrangement of the 2020 concept.

Tata has already confirmed that the Sierra EV will launch before March 2026. It is expected to use the brand’s Acti.EV architecture, like the Punch EV and upcoming Harrier EV, and is likely to be based on Tata’s Gen2 EV platform. In terms of design, the signature curved-over rear-side windows, the squarish wheel arches and the high-set bonnet seen on the concept are all reminiscent of the original Sierra and are expected to make it to production.

4. Tata Avinya

As previously confirmed by Tata that its Avinya EVs will be launched in FY2026. Vivek Srivatsa, chief commercial officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, confirmed that the Tata Avinya is not going to be a single vehicle, but will instead be a premium all-electric brand that’ll spawn an entire family of cars and SUVs. Interestingly, the Avinya range of cars will be based on JLR’s modular EMA platform that will be localised to keep costs down.

Not much is known in terms of body style or specifications regarding the first product under Avinya. What we do know is that the Avinya range will be built at Tata’s upcoming new plant in Tamil Nadu. The plant is likely to come up at Ranipet and sources say that Tata could use it to produce Jaguar Land Rover EVs as well.
