5 Upcoming MPVs In India You Should Wait For




In the list of five upcoming MPVs in India, we have explained about models from Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Nissan and Lexus

The Indian automotive space will witness the arrival of a number of new MPVs across different segments within the next three years and here we have explained about the possible ones from brands like Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Nissan and Lexus.

1. Nissan MPV Based On Triber:

Renault-Nissan alliance has a slew of new vehicles waiting in the pipeline for India. While Nissan is expected to launch the facelifted Kiger and X-Trail this year, the real product onslaught will begin by 2025-26 as a new midsize SUV and a seven-seater appear to be under development based on the new-gen Duster. They will be accompanied by a compact MPV based on the same platform as the Renault Triber in the future.

2. New-Gen Kia Carnival:

The fourth-generation global Kia Carnival is coming to India for the first time this year and compared to the old model, it is a radical departure inside and out. The all-new Kia Carnival will be more technologically advanced as well and will likely continue to use the 2.2L diesel engine producing 200 PS and 440 Nm. It will be mated to an eight-speed AT.

3. Lexus LM:

The bookings for the Lexus LM are already open in India and the prices could be announced anytime soon. It will be offered in LM 350h four-seater Ultra Luxury and LM 350h seven-seater VIP variants. The Lexus LM is the more premium version of the latest Toyota Vellfire and it could be priced well over Rs. 1 crore.

4. Maruti Suzuki Compact MPV (YDB):

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on a compact MPV codenamed YDB and it will be slotted below the Ertiga to take on the Renault Triber. It could be based on the Spacia sold in Japan with apparent cost-cutting measures to price it competitively. As for the performance, the upcoming 1.2L Z series mild hybrid petrol engine could be used.

5. Kia Electric RV:

Previously, Kia confirmed that it is developing an electrified RV for India and it could be launched in 2025 or 2026. It could be a midsize MPV targeting a wide range of customers with good interior space and practicality. We can expect the claimed driving range to be over 450 km on a single charge.
