Aalok Shanghvi, the son of Dilip Shanghvi, promoter and managing director of Sun Pharma, is currently the whole-time director and executive vice-president, emerging markets, global generic R&D, global business development (generics), operations and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) business.
Aalok Shanghvi joined Sun Pharma in 2006 and has handled various roles in marketing, R&D, project management, purchase & communications.
In 2014, he became the head of Emerging Markets business, spread across
80 countries covering Africa, the Middle East, APAC, Eastern Europe, CIS, and Latam.Emerging markets business contributes about 18% to Sun Pharma’s global revenues. Subsequently, he took additional charge of global generic R&D, global business development (generics), operations and API functions. He has been serving as the whole-time director of Sun Pharma since June 2023.
Sun Pharma’s revenue for the fiscal year FY24 was ?48,496 crore. The company has a market valuation of ?4.17 lakh crores.Aalok majored in cellular and molecular biology at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
